As you may be aware, the cost of green coffee beans and consumables has doubled in this past year alone. Climate change, economic pressures, and geopolitical uncertainty have led to reduced crop sizes, while emerging markets such as China and India have further tightened supplies and inflated prices. Many farmers are opting out of coffee production for food crops that provide higher more predictable income.

Dark City Coffee has been absorbing these increases, hoping for relief, but with no end in site.  To remain competitive and keep our doors open, we are forced, at this time, to increase our prices. Beginning April 1, 2025, we will be implementing a 20% increase across all our coffees.  While this increase will not cover the full extent of the prices we are being charged, it will allow us to continue to operate and provide the level of excellence you’ve come to expect. We will have to reevaluate our pricing in the coming months, likely with a further price increase unless there is some relief from the high cost of coffee right now.

Most micro-roasters have been steadily increasing their prices much higher than ours. Either through straight price increases or shrinkflation (giving you less coffee in their packages, at the same price, so you think their prices are lower). We have always and will continue to package whole pounds (454 grams) or half pounds (227 grams), so you know the real cost of what you are getting. We encourage you to look closely at the coffee you buy and compare both the quality and weight when evaluating your purchase.

Thank you for your continued support
